On Wednesday, Oct. 18, our community united at the Fremont Annual Domestic Violence Awareness Candlelight Vigil. It was our honor to co-host this vigil with our wonderful sister organizations Safe Alternatives to Violent Environments Narika and Maitri Bay Area. Gratitude to the City of Fremont and Human Relations Commission for sponsoring and supporting this annual event.
The evening was poignant and reflective. We held space for lives lost to violence in our neighborhoods and all over the world. We held hope for a violence-free future. We held each other in compassionate solidarity- affirming our commitment to our unified vision, acknowledging the current imperfection of our systems and reiterating the need to keep forging ahead, keeping survivor voices centered.
We thank all who joined us. Collaborators and providers who shared vital resources, elected officials and local leaders, volunteers, advocates, caring community members- and above all- survivors who spoke truth to power. The open mic saw diverse voices share their perspectives, lifting the rich complexity of the community we serve.
Our hearts are full.
