October is Domestic Violence (DV) awareness month. Four advocacy groups organized a candlelight vigil to honor the lives of DV victims and survivors at the Fremont City Hall in mid-October. Three of these agencies, Narika, Nisa, and Maitri, cater specifically to the growing South Asian population in the Bay Area. They provide culturally and linguistically appropriate services to help the victims navigate the system better. With the help of booths and speeches, they provided information about the resources available in the hope that reaches the individuals in need. The video captures and gives a glimpse into the event.
